Asphalt begins Wednesday.  After 3pm Tuesday, do not park in the south or west lots (labeled Wednesday) so the lots can be prepped.  After 7 am Wednesday morning, do not park along Milford - the street adjacent to the south lot labeled Wednesday - Do Not Park Here. The asphalt company plans to jump the curb to lay the asphalt to protect the new drives.

A slight change to the parking renovations - the concrete guys moved to the northeast corner of the property near building 6 (labeled 2). The picture below shows the revised schedule for renovation.  Once they complete the northwest corner, they will move to the lot between buildings 6 & 8 adjacent to parking lot next to building 7 (labled 3).  There will be limited access to the lot near building 7 on Tuesday; on Wednesday it will be closed.

 Make sure that you don't park on the northeast corner of the property and we need the Camry with the tag FFV-2344 to move their vehicle before tomorrow.

The email I sent to Mesquite Square raised a few questions:

Will there still be uncovered parking in the north and south lot?  Yes.  Currently there are 48 spaces in the north lot and 48 spaces in the south lot - 24 on each side.  Because the dumpsters, we lose 5 spaces in each of these lots so now we are down to 43,.  By consolidating the dumpsters on 1 shared pad located at the back of the property, we gain a space in each lot.. The covered parking will be located on the north and south edge of the lot and the 24 spaces flanking the buildings will remain uncovered.  None of the spaces on Harwell or Judge Ely will be covered.

Here's a better sketch of the covered parking that also shows how the project will move over the next week:  Red is for new concrete drives, purple are the new pads for the dumpsters (2 north, 2 on the south with a fence on 3 sides), and the numbers show how we'll work the rear of the property first and the front last.  The blue boxes illustrate where the carports will be sited.

We are about to begin the parking lot renovations.  There are three parts to the renovation

  • Pouring the concrete entries and dumpster pads starting 8/1/2016
  • Asphalting the parking lots starting 8/10/2016
  • Installation of covered parking TBA

We are going to start on the parking lot entries first. The concrete company will start on the southwest corner of the property nearest building 8 on Monday 8/1. 

We are going to start on the parking lot entries first. The concrete company will start on the southwest corner of the property nearest building 8 on Monday 8/1 and work north on the drives along Harwell and then north from Milford to Piedmont along Judge Ely. 

A new driveway will be poured and a 15’x30’ concrete pad for the dumpsters will be poured in the corner at Milford and Harwell (shown in red).  Once completed, the two dumpsters will be moved to this concrete pad that will be surrounded on 2 sides by a fence.  If you normally park in this area, please park in another part of the parking lot (and there is a white truck there now that needs to be moved by 8/1). Once the concrete is poured on 8/2, it needs to sit for several days unused.  If you park in the south parking lot, plan to use the front entry (shown with the blue arrow) to access this lot.

There are two cars that appear to never move in the lots.  One is a green Lexus ES300 near building 4.  It has current California tags and a current ACU parking sticker, but also has cobwebs on the wheels indicating it hasn’t moved in some time.  The other is a White Ford Explorer (highlighted in green)in the south lot.  This car has flat tires and expired plates (2012).   In preparation for the asphalting, these cars have been tagged to alert the owner they will be towed in 10 days.

40 covered parking spaces will be added to the property – 20 in the north lot, 20 in the south lot (shown with the orange outline).  These spaces will lease for $50/month and will be available on a first come, first leased basis starting October 1st.
